Our Services
Workshops
Between one and three hour sessions focusing on a specific Systems Engineering concept or activity. These can be an off the shelf session or a bespoke tailor-made offering to suit your organisation’s needs. Every workshop is rooted in good practice, with the signature engaging style of Good Witch Systems Engineering. You can expect interactive sessions balanced with clearly explained theory and practical activities to practice the concepts learned.
Some off the shelf workshops include:
How the Grinch Systems Engineered Christmas A neatly packaged short workshop (1-2 hours) that takes small teams through simple Systems Engineering activities as they follow the Grinch through creating a ‘Christmas Stealing System’. Can be adapted for those new to the activities, or a fun quiz team building activity for those already familiar with the concepts.
Sharing the Magic of Systems Engineering First presented at INCOSE UK’s Annual Systems Engineering Conference 2023. This 2-3 hour workshop looks at the theory behind using inventive and inclusive activities to communicate Systems Engineering concepts, before attendees use a range of building materials, pop culture references, and fantastical scenarios to craft their own activity explaining a Systems Engineering concept of their choice.
Training
Inventive, Engaging, Fun. The signature offering from Good Witch Systems Engineering. Training that is interactive, fun, and most importantly gives attendees the skills they need to go straight back to their desk and start implementing what they’ve learned.
Systems Engineering training has long been dominated by dull powerpoints full of unexplained buzzwords. In a discipline that relies so heavily on team buy in, ineffectual and inaccessible training puts people off Systems Engineering altogether and makes implementing the discipline so much harder.
At Good Witch Systems Engineering we offer fresh, innovative training that is all about making Systems Engineering accessible to your entire team - whether they have an engineering background or not. From general ‘what is Systems Engineering’ training, to deep dives on specific subjects, or tailored to specific groups for example, reviewing requirements for chief engineers. We have both off the shelf courses as well as offering bespoke courses tailored directly to your team or organisational needs.
Each training journey starts with a session to discuss your needs in detail, and see how we can create a package that provides the most benefit to your team. Get in touch with a brief explanation of what you need and we’ll go from there.
Adventures in Systems Engineering
‘Systems Engineering? What’s that?’ you ask.
The Good Witch, already storming ahead out of the clearing, halts abruptly.
‘Ah. We had better start from the very beginning then. Here, take a seat.’
An Evil Sorcerer has cursed a community of elves, stranding them in their village without a hope of rescue. With the help of their friends and the Good Witch of Systems Engineering, can teams work their way through a series of magical challenges to save the Elven village?
‘Adventures in Systems Engineering’ is a three-day, interactive fantasy themed training course, designed to present Systems Engineering in an accessible, memorable, and fun way for everyone. Participants work in teams to define, design and deliver an imaginary rescue system over a simulated full life cycle, all the while journeying across an enchanted valley. The course is mapped to INCOSE Systems Engineering Competencies and gives participants the confidence and tools to start implementing a variety of Systems Engineering activities in their day-to-day work.
This course is run in collaboration with Scarecrow Consultants. Please contact Scarecrow directly to book a course for your organisation or check upcoming public course dates. For full course content please see the Scarecrow course flyer here.
The book is also available to purchase on INCOSE UK store for trainers to run their own course.
Witch in Residence
We offer short to medium term consultancy and contracting support for companies requiring additional Systems Engineering resource – either to provide specialty experience on a specific task or problem, or as a temporary boost to existing resource.
This support can be directly in projects providing expertise and delivering artefacts alongside the existing Systems Engineering team, or to assess and deliver regular training throughout an organisation.
We can offer expertise specifically in requirements creation and management, Systems Engineering tailoring for research projects and educational projects, fusion energy technology, small satellite technology and Systems Engineering in the space, and nuclear industry environment.
Please get in touch to discuss your needs.
